British Superbikes Superstock 1000
With almost 60 international riders entering the British Superbikes Superstock 1000 race, it is without a doubt one of the most respected and competitive series in the world. Sam West riding the 'Carlube/Water Lane Physio' Kawasaki ZX10R was looking forward to a good race at his home track Oulton Park, Cheshire. He always performs well at the circuit having taken many wins there on a range of bikes, last year Sam was fastest in the wet and had quietly hoped for similar conditions this year, but the sun shone strongly throughout the bank holiday weekend and conditions stayed excellent.
Sam started with a strong result in the free practice session and positioned well in the first qualifying session, however a fault with the bike in the second qualifying session meant that he slipped down the order and had a lot to do in the race. Come race day Sam was confident of a good result and raced hard right from the off, quickly regaining positions. Unfortunately the same bike fault came back during the race and Sam struggled to continue, but still managed to bring the 'Carlube/Water Lane Physio' Kawasaki home to finish in a very respectable 24th place.
Next round is Snetterton Norfolk in mid June.
